Arthur "Brent" Adams, 67, of Bow, NH, passed away at home on Monday, November 29, 2021 after a brave 10-month battle with the cruel disease of ALS.
Brent grew up in Reading, MA and was the son of Arthur Wilbur and Ethel "Nicki" Adams. Brent's passion for playing ice hockey began as a young boy and continued late into his adult life. He was a proud goaltender. His dad was his coach throughout most of his hockey career, where they spent many hours rinkside together. The skating legacy continued when Brent taught his daughters to skate as soon as they could walk. He took great pride and patience to build the best backyard rink every winter and later loved being a figure skating dad. Brent was an avid Boston Bruins fan.
Brent grew up spending his summers with his aunt and cousins in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. He continued the tradition with his wife and daughters, visiting every summer for 40 years. Nova Scotia always held a very special place in Brent's heart.
Brent started his career at Digital Equipment Corporation, completed his MBA, and became a software developer and consultant. He worked at Payette Associates, an architectural firm in Boston, for the last 15 years before retiring in December 2020. Brent was known as the man who took the 4:00 am Concord Trailways bus to Boston each morning, and he loved to spend his lunch hour jogging 3 miles around the Seaport area.
Brent was known to many as a Jack-of-all-trades. Whether it was woodworking, tiling, sheetrocking, boat-building, planking salmon, or lumberjacking, Brent was ready to take it on; especially when his wife and daughters requested a project. His creativity was remarkable; his latest endeavor was building a shed with his two sons-in-law.
Brent was known as a gentle man of few words, yet when he spoke it was prophetic and often full of dry humor. He had a deep love and appreciation for music and was known for quizzing his family on song titles and artists. After attending Catholic mass for 40 years, Brent was baptized and confirmed at Christ the King Parish in 2017. He was a proud member of the church community and involved in several ministries.
Brent is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra J. (Romano) Adams and his daughters, Alexandra "Brin" Cowette and husband Devin Cowette, and Shela Faye Adams Auger and husband Michael Auger, sisters Cheryl Adams of Hallandale, FL and Donna Gray and husband Ken Gray of North Andover, MA, brother-in-law Robert Romano and wife Pamela (Hosaka) Romano of Wakefield, MA, and cat Margot Adams of Bow, NH.
As requested, there are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 6th at 1:30 P.M. at Christ the King Parish in Concord. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery. At the request of the family, face-coverings are suggested in the church and at the cemetery.
