Arlene Wilcox passed away on Thursday morning, August 1, 2024. She was born on a rainy day on April 23, 1951, to the parents of Earl and Donna R. Wilcox, in Montpelier Idaho. She lived with her 2 sisters, Marie and Beverly and then was joined by two more sisters and a brother, Lois Cheryl, and Russell. She went to school in Montpelier and graduated from Bear Lake High School in 1969.
She went to work with some of her friends in Jackson Hole for the summer and fall. Then she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she received her cosmetology license from Robert Stuart's Cosmetology and Hair Design and worked as a beautician for several years. She took classes at LDS Business College and after taking a state examine, became an employee of the State of Utah and worked there for 5 years. A big turning point in her life came when her Uncle Don asked her to move to California. She originally planned to live there for 6 months which turned into 39 years. She loved living in California and worked as a Federal Employee in the quality assurance office over the construction of the first 3 space shuttles and their following flights. After the completion of the shuttles, she went to work on the B2 Bomber as a security monitor of all 6000 top secret documents that were checked out each day. She then worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an Intelligence Analyst from which she retired in the year 2011.
She believed in and loved her Savior Jesus Christ. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served and administered in many callings with her whole heart. She loved attending the temple. One of the last callings she held was the bulletin and program for each Sunday. Every picture she picked for the cover was prayerfully selected to help those viewing it feel the love of the Savior. She was always doing service for others. It was very important to her to stay in touch with her cousins and friends she had made throughout the years.
After her sister Cheryl passed away, she moved to Rexburg, Idaho to be close to her remaining sister Beverly. Though she loved living in California and always said that she lived longer in California than any other place, she knew it was important to be closer to her sister and enjoyed being able to see her nieces and nephews more often. She moved to The Homestead Assisted Living in Rexburg and made good friends during the 5 years she lived there, which helped ease the loss of sunny California.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Earl and Donna R. Wilcox, sisters Marie, Lois, and Cheryl and her brother Russell. She is survived by her sister, Beverly Wilcox Erickson (Eric) and her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
The family would like to thank all the medical staff of Carriage Cove, for the tender care they administered to her as her life drew to a close. You all are wonderful!
A graveside service will be held at Montpelier Idaho Cemetery, Saturday, August 10th at 11:00 am. To ensure everyone has seating please bring a chair.
