Arlene Loudell (Briggs) Peters, 94 of Topeka, Kansas departed this life on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Lexington Park Health & Rehab in Topeka, Kansas. She was born April 14, 1926 on the family farm north of Burlingame, Kansas the daughter of Alvin L. and Elma I. (Wells) Briggs. She grew up in Burlingame and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1943.
On September 5, 1947 in Osage City, Arlene was united in marriage to Maurice Hayden Peters. To this union they shared a daughter, Joan Elaine. They shared over forty-six years of marriage before Maurice passed away on July 14, 1994.
Arlene worked over ten years for the Kansas Power & Light in Topeka. She would spend most of her working life as homemaker taking care of her family. She later worked for Southwest Publishing in Topeka in the mailing department.
Arlene was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Topeka, Kansas. She also volunteered at KTWU in Topeka. She enjoyed quilting, canning but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Maurice; and a brother, Charles Briggs.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Joan E. Harvey (Russell) of Hoyt, Kansas; sister, Norma Jean Harper of Topeka, Kansas; two grandchildren, Jeremy R. Harvey (Shelley) of Topeka, Kansas and Amber D. Kirmse (Alan) of Topeka, Kansas; and four great-grandchildren, Indi, Oliver, Kaya and Claire. Arlene is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held at the Burlingame Cemetery in Burlingame, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Burlingame Historical Society c/o Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, Kansas 66451.
