Arcadio Benavides, age 89, of Port Lavaca, went home to be with the Lord and his loving wife, Molly, on Sunday, February 3, 2019. Arcadio was born August 28, 1929, in Orange Grove to the late Luis S. Benavides and Francisca V. Benavides. Arcadio served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
Arcadio is survived by his sons, John H. Benavides and wife Karin of San Antonio, and Robert J. Benavides and wife Judy of Houston; He is also survived by grandchildren Leah Benavides Rodriguez, Tori D. Benavides, Michael J. Benavides, and Ryan M. Benavides.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Amelia "Molly" Benavides, sisters Maria B. Leal and husband, Felix Leal, Guadalupe B. Olivares, and Juanita B. Crowder and husband, Ray Crowder.
Visitation will begin Thursday, February 7, 2019, from 5-9 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Angel Lucy's Funeral Home in Port Lavaca. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church with Father Tommy Chen officiating. Burial to follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery with full military honors under the Auspices of Calhoun County Combined Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be: Michael J. Benavides, Ryan M. Benavides, Abran Leal, Paul Ray Benavides, Eddie Benavides, and Mike Benavides.
This lovable man filled us with so much joy. His humble spirit, laughs, music, good food, and selfless heart will make his absence that much harder to bare. Until we are all together again sweet man. May you rest in heavenly peace.
