Apolonia "Polly" Manago Pearson, age 78, widow of Lee R. Pearson, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Calapacuan, Subic, Zambales, Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Patricio Manago and Rosalina Angel Manago.
Polly was a strong woman, and she showed her strength from a young age. In the Philippines she helped support her family by working various jobs. She raised her family in a foreign country, learned to drive in a blizzard in Minot, North Dakota, and worked many years in food service. Though she never attended high school, Polly became a successful businesswoman and founded the Fil-AM store on Peach Orchard Road. Polly loved her family dearly. She was a kind-hearted, God-fearing woman of great Catholic faith. Emigrating Filipinos near and far found a new family member in Polly, and she helped many people who now call this country home. Polly was a generous woman and volunteered with the DAV, VA, and her local church. She enjoyed fellowship with her many friends, especially those in the Filipino community.
Surviving are two children, Lee Ann Lawrence and her husband Dave of Chapin; John E. Pearson and his wife Alison of Easley; grandchildren Hannah Pearson, Dustin Lawrence and Devin Lawrence; siblings Julius Manago, Myrna Igma, Cezar Manago and Freddie Manago all of the Philippines; niece Angelita Angel of Reno, NV; nephew Orly Manago Orlina of the Philippines.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Adelida, Rosalinda, and Angelito.
