Antoinette "Anjee" Regina McPherson, 58, of Washington, Virginia, moved on from this life on Monday, June 28, 2021. Anjee passed away at home following a valiant and arduous journey with cancer. She is survived by her daughter Osha Kondori and son-in-law Clayton Crawford; partner Robert Alcott; sisters and brothers Thelma, Barbara, Wesney, Jackie, and Neville; three step-children and five step-grandchildren; fifteen nephews and nieces; twenty-three great nephews and nieces; Daniel Koubel and family; and devoted friends.
Born on June 6, 1963 in Moss Side, Manchester, England, Anjee travelled the world before finding her home in Rappahannock County in 1994. For 27 years, Anjee worked and volunteered at Hearthstone School in Sperryville. A pillar of Hearthstone, Anjee intricately and irrevocably wove herself into every aspect of the school. Her radiance, determination, generosity, and conscientiousness have permeated the walls, permanently entrenching her as a member of Hearthstone's community.
Anjee was a resourceful inventor, a creative and resolute problem-solver, an ardent researcher, an avid knitter, an active gardener, a goat and chicken caretaker, a self-taught electrician and plumber, a meticulous cleaner, a kimchi-maker, a mason jar collector, a worthy friend, an always supportive life-partner, and a fiercely loving mother. From welding to fermentation to computer science and accounting, Anjee led with love, laughter, and exuberance. A spiritually-alive woman, she lived her life with intention and magic, bringing purpose and peace to all that she did.
Always in tune with the earth, with spirit, and with herself, Anjee blessed those lucky enough to know her with her depth of soul, well of passion, and strength of heart. Perceptive and authentic, Anjee had a way of making people feel seen in her presence. When Anjee turned her light on someone, faced them with that big smile and palpable realness, the whole world lit up. All who knew and loved Anjee will miss her endearing nicknames for them, her "Anjeexxx" signature at the end of every email, and her exclamations of "Gordon Bennett!"
A Celebration of Life will be planned and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Anjee's memory to Hearthstone School. The school will establish the Anjee McPherson Scholarship fund in her name.
