Anthony Fragola, 89, of Branford, CT passed away after a short illness on May 22nd with his wife Carol and daughter Karen by his side. Tony was born October 21, 1931 in New Haven, CT to Italian immigrants Vincent and Rose (Ferrucci) Fragola. Besides his wife Carol of 63 years, Tony also leaves three children and their spouses, Mark and Chrissy Fragola of North Branford, CT Lisa and Ric Waterbury of Hampstead, NC and Karen and Tom Dejong of Delray Beach, FL. He also leaves five grandchildren Melissa, Kaitlyn and Carly Waterbury and Vincent and Nicholas Fragola. Tony leaves sister Camille Johnson of Hamden, CT and is predeceased by sisters Nancy Lipovetz , Mary Livingston and Ann DeNoia. Tony graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy with a doctorate in Pharmacology and Southern Connecticut State University with a Masters of Science. Tony was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Air Force. He was a respected pharmacist at Bells Pharmacy in Clinton as well as other surrounding drug stores. He was a science teacher for 30+ years at The Morgan School where he received the award for "Outstanding Biology Teacher for Connecticut" in 1971 as well as numerous other awards, too many to list. So many students and colleagues to this day comment how strongly he touched and influenced their lives. Tony was a head football coach as well as the offensive coordinator for The Morgan School where he helped lead them to the State Championship in 1987. He was an avid UCONN Huskies women and men's basketball fan and lifelong Yankee's fan.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 27th from 4pm- 8pm at Swan Funeral Home in Clinton, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 28th at 11am in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Clinton. Burial with military honors will follow at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
