Mrs. Annie Eugenia (Jean) King, age 93, of McDonough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 10, 2024, at Westbury Nursing Care Center where she had been several weeks receiving rehabilitation. Jean was born on September 08, 1931 in Oxford, GA. She was the oldest of two children of the late Naomi St. John Dial and Osborn Dial. After her father's death, as a young child, her mother moved, along with her brother Bobby Lee Dial (deceased) to Jackson, GA. The family worked the St. John family farm and attended Flovilla Methodist Church. Upon completion of the 11th grade, she graduated Jackson High School. Later, she would meet and marry her husband, James Lamar King. They made their home in their beloved Pepperton community, became active members of Pepperton Baptist Church (Second Baptist) and raised 3 daughters there. For many years, she worked as a seamstress at Fashion Pillows later becoming a supervisor. After retiring, she took a job as cook at Dream Catchers Assisted Living where she worked for more than 16 years. This was never a job to her but a service of love. She was a woman of faith, Godly wisdom and she loved the Lord with all her heart. She could be found on any given day with her Bible in her lap, along with notebook and pencil, reading and searching the Scriptures. Also, she was infamous for her chocolate cakes and kind and generous spirit.
In addition to her parents and brother, Jean was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Susan Elaine Leavitt (Ray). She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Lynn Jenkins (Jack and Angela Joy Atkinson (Dondie). She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren Justin Jenkins of Koxville, TN, Heather McGill (Chris) of Griffin, Steven Jenkins of McDonough, Shane Parker (Jenna), Crystal Porter, Michael Porter and Cameron Leavitt of Jackson; 24 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 05, 2024, at 2:00PM in the chapel of Philippi Baptist Church, 2355 Old Jackson Road: Locust Grove, GA 30248. Family will receive friends at 1:00PM.
