Annie R. Harley, age 80, of Yellow Springs, died on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center, Frederick. Born April 26, 1940 in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late William "Boodie" and Margaret Stitely Smith. She was the wife of Gary "Bunky" Harley, her husband of 46 years, who predeceased her in 2013.
Annie attended Liberty School and graduated in 1958 from Frederick High School. After graduation she was employed for a few years at Cambridge Rubber Co., Taneytown and then began her years of employment at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1974 to raise her sons. She was a lifelong member of Chapel Lutheran Church, near Libertytown, where she was a member of the choir. She loved reading, listening to music, cooking, watching the Hallmark and Food Network channels, having sleepovers with the grandchildren and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. and Kristen Harley and Donald M. and Jennifer Harley, all of Frederick; grandchildren, Megan Amber Harley, and twins, Joshua Martin and Gracie Ann Harley; sister, Joan V. Moxley and husband Bill of Libertytown; several nieces and nephews, including Judy Martin and husband Larry and children, Kevin Facemire and wife Rhiannon, Curtis Facemire and wife Mary, and Kelsey Schoonover and husband Matt and numerous great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Susie L. and Mary K. Smith.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 12 at Chapel Cemetery, with Pastor Ron Brown, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 11 at Hartzler Funeral Home-Libertytown, 11802 Liberty Rd., Frederick. Wearing masks, social distancing and limiting the number of people in the funeral home at any one time will be in effect.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Lutheran Church, 11109 Daysville Rd., Frederick, MD 21701.
