Graveside Services for Mrs. Annie D. Whatley, 88, who entered into rest on May 23, 2021, will be conducted Thursday at 10 o'clock in Pineview Memorial Gardens. Rev. Sam Drain officiating.
Mrs. Whatley was a native of Augusta, GA, having made North Augusta her home for 68 years. She and her husband, Frank, operated Frank's Grocery on Martintown Road for several years in the late 1960's. For a short time in the mid 1970's, Annie owned and operated Taylor's Grocery (now Sportsman's Corner). She always had a ready smile and her quick wit, along with her "never quit" attitude, was legendary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Frank Whatley, and a son, Walter Samuel Whatley.
Survivors include her son, David (Melinda) Whatley, North Augusta, SC; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Whatley, North Augusta, SC; four grandchildren, Mandy Whatley (William Jasper, IV) Owen, Tori Whatley, Walter S. Whatley, II and Tammy (Robert E., II) Murphy; two great-grandchildren, Robert E. Murphy, III and Walter "Trip" S. Whatley, III; one brother, Charles (Martha) DeLoach, and one sister, Melba Dietschler, all of Appling, GA.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Wednesday from 5 until 7.
