Anne Olsen Wood, 89, passed away January 9, 2024 at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Born in Medford, MA on March 1, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Charley and Anne (Gilmore Learmonth) Olsen. She grew up and graduated from Weymouth High school. She Graduated from the New England Deaconess School of Nursing in Boston, MA, and went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Springfield College and continued her education at Dartmouth College and Russell Sage College ending with her Master's Degree in Psychology and Sociology and in Nursing, specializing in coronary care. Anne retired her nursing career in 1999 and went on to do charts for the American Heart Association. She also spent many years doing several health studies.
Anne was a member of the First Baptist Church in Weymouth, The Florence Congregational and College churches in Northampton. Anne was a Girl Scout when she was young, and a former member of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. A past Matron and lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved sewing and doing crosstitch and knitting and was also a voracious reader. She also collected MANY lighthouses. Anne spent over 30 years going to her timeshare on the Cape every October. She loved Sailing on Schooners, spending almost 35 years, sailing on the Roseway and then the Mary Day out of Camden Harbor, Maine.
Anne leaves her son Frederick Wood of Holyoke; daughter Elaine Wood of Easthampton; grandchildren Lucas Pare' of Southbridge, MA, Jacob Pare' (Katie) of Warwick, RI, and Jillian Pare' (Matt) of Fort Drum, NY; and her large extended family and friends.
A small service will be in the Spring with a celebration of life next year on The Mary Day, her most favorite place to be.
