Anne Marie Morris, recently of Dallas, Texas, passed away on February 18, 2022, at the age of 90. Anne was born in 1932 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to parents Anthony and Carmella Sciuto. Following her graduation from Central High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Anne enrolled in the School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport, the first school for dental hygiene in the country. After receiving her degree, Anne spent the next 40 plus years working as a dental hygienist at various dental practices in the Bridgeport area. Anne also spent many of her retirement years volunteering for the Southbury Training School to raise monies to support special needs persons in the Southbury, Connecticut area.
Anne married the love of her life, James ("Jim") Morris, in 1954. They were married for 64 years until Jim passed away in 2019. Anne and Jim had two children, James, Jr., who lives in Dallas, Texas, and Pamela, who lives in Oceanside, California. Anne loved traveling with her husband, especially on the coast of Maine. Anne and Jim enjoyed cheering for the University of Connecticut Women's Basketball team. Anne had great memories of time spent with friends in her long-time home in Heritage Village in Southbury, Connecticut and enjoyed the new friends she made while living at The Tradition in Dallas, Texas. Anne's greatest joy was spending time with her family and her four grandsons, who were her pride and joy.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings Marie and Philip. Anne is survived by her sister Josephine Yaroush of Monroe, Connecticut; her son James W. Morris, Jr. and his wife Lee Anne; her daughter Pamela Raskin and her husband Barry; and her four grandchildren Christopher Morris of Arlington, Virginia, William Morris of Dallas, Texas, Kyle Raskin of San Diego, California and Craig Raskin of Brooklyn, New York.
A private family service will be held on March 12, 2022. A memorial service will be held at Christ the Redeemer Church, Southbury, CT, tentatively scheduled for May 24, 2022, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Council for Life www.councilforlife.org or the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org.
