Anne Marie Grocock
Anne Marie was born to her parents, Jack and Connie Blotske, on March 24, 1956. As the eldest of four children, she has two sisters, Laura (Geoff) Stieler and Jane (Kelly) Fisher, and their younger brother, Tom (Suzanne) Blotske. The family lived in the Detroit area, moved to North Dakota for four years before they settled in Gaylord, Michigan in 1966, where Jack and Connie continue to reside.
Anne Marie met her husband, Michael David Grocock, in Gaylord where he also lived and they were married in August of 1975. They resided in Ann Arbor to finish college at the University of Michigan until 1980 and to enjoy the birth of their first child, Michael David (Elizabeth), in June of that year. They moved to Santa Clara, California, where Michael took a job with Intel Corporation. In 1983, they moved back to Birmingham, Michigan and completed their family with the birth of two more sons, Nicholas David and Christopher David (Heather), and their younger daughter, Brittany Marie.
Anne Marie set aside a medical career to focus on raising our four children to which she applied her incredible will and talents. She loved her children and always strove to assure they had everything to prepare them for life. For this, we are all eternally grateful.
Once the children had all been enrolled in or had graduated from college and started their new lives, Anne Marie reentered the workforce holding retail management positions at The Sweet Factory and Williams Sonoma. In 2015, she retired from retail to spend more time on gardening and simply enjoying life.
After a short, difficult battle with cancer, Anne Marie left us on April 4, 2020. She will live in our hearts forever. God rest her soul.
A memorial Mass and luncheon will be held in Birmingham when conditions allow for a safe, full gathering and celebration with family and friends. We ask people in lieu of flowers to make donations to the cancer charity of their choice.
