Anne Genevieve Hays joined our Lord at the age of 85 on November 11, 2022. Born in St. Joe, FL on January 12, 1937, she lived most of her life sharing and helping others in this community. Anne went to school at Sacred Heart and was taught by nuns including Sister Mildred, whom she loved dearly. While a young girl, she would help take care of elderly family members with love and compassion. Anne and her husband, Samuel, dated for 2 years and then got married on October 30, 1956. They shared a beautiful marriage of 66 years and shared this love with their 8 children- 4 boys and 4 girls, whom she was always proud of. When Anne would talk to strangers, she never failed to tell them about her 8 amazing children. As Anne grew older, she continued to help new mothers with their newborn babies while they recuperated. One milestone in her life was the care she gave her mother when she needed it most. Often, she would visit those she knew were ill and go to visitations for those who recently passed away to comfort the families and let them know she would pray for them. She was a talented baker and chef, gardener, and seamstress. She would get the most joy out of these hobbies and talents when she could share them with others. She was known to bake delicious wedding cakes for couples, free of charge. If you heard a knock at your door, it may have been Anne stopping by to say hello, give you something she made, and to see how everyone was doing. She loved to visit with friends and family. Anne was also a proud believer in the Catholic Church. Rarely missing Sunday mass, and often going to daily mass. She was a firm believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was devoted to prayer. She always kept at least one rosary in her pocket. Once again if there was an opportunity to give one to someone she would. She also loved to sing Gospel music. Anne had a beautiful heart and soul; a strong giving spirit and everyone who met her could not help but love her. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
