Anne Wiley Edelen of Waldorf and Port Tobacco, Maryland passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and caregivers on Thursday September 19, 2024.
Anne was born on July 25, 1941, the third child of six, to Dr. Edward Joseph Edelen, Jr. and Mary Olivia Keech Edelen. Anne received her middle name in honor of her maternal Grandfather, William 'Wiley' Keech. Anne grew up with her parents and siblings in Historic Mulberry Grove, birthplace to John Hanson, in Port Tobacco, Maryland. The Edelen family enjoyed their home place and cottage in Banks O'Dee, Maryland. Anne's life on the water was full of good times, fun and making memories. Anne loved boating, fishing, crabbing, going to Ocean City, Maryland every summer, babies and bowling. Anne grew up in Charles County, Maryland attending St. Ignatius Catholic Church Chapel Point in Port Tobacco, Maryland. Anne attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in La Plata, Maryland, as well as St. Gertrude's in Washington, D C. Anne's favorite loves were music and dancing. She loved to dance!
Two siblings predeceased Anne. Her older brother, Edward Joseph Edelen III and younger sister Mary Susan Edelen Jaeger, as well as her dear nephew William Keech Edelen, Jr.
Anne is survived by three beloved brothers Wm. Keech Edelen, Sr. (Joyce), David Bart Edelen and Richard Noel Edelen (Suzanne), her sister-in-law, Lexy Herschberger Edelen, brother-in-law Bruce Jaeger, as well as many nieces and nephews, great and great great.
Keech and Joyce were honored and privileged to be Anne's Guardians for over thirty four years. Anne was a gift and a joy.
Anne was blessed with many amazing caregivers from Providence (previously HARC), Wanda Willis was a blessing and has been with Anne for 31 years and became our family. The office staff and caregivers at Providence and Spring Dell are very dear to our hearts and family, we thank them.
In memory and honor of our dear Anne we ask you to reflect on her smile and zest for life....pass that smile and pure joy everywhere your path takes you going forward.
A Visitation for Anne took place on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00 pm with Prayers at 7:00 pm at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Ave., La Plata, MD 20646. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Ignatius Church - Chapel Point, 8855 Chapel Point Rd., Port Tobacco, MD 20677.
