Norwich, Vermont - Annah Lois B. C. Dupuis, 82, fought hard to see her 83rd birthday, but passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Born August 18, 1937 in Salem, MA the youngest daughter of Ernest and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Batchelder, Annah was the embodiment of warmth, great humor, and a life well lived.
Beloved by all who her knew her, Annah was a Marblehead girl through-and-through. Even during her sunset years in Norwich, VT, she spoke fondly of her life in Marblehead, MA where she grew up, graduated from Marblehead High School in 1955, and later settled with her growing family.
A consummate student and teacher, Annah believed that education was a life-long pursuit. After graduating from Keene State College, she married fellow educator, Rev. Dr. Alexander Craig in 1964 and had two children. After her divorce, Annah completed her M.A. in Education from USF Tampa. She then married Lt. Cmd. Louis P. Dupuis and settled in Marblehead. Annah taught special education at the Bell School and spent 34 years of service in the Marblehead Public School System.
In 2006, Annah and Louis fell in love with the town of Norwich, VT. They bought a house on Main Street, so they could enjoy their retirement and to be closer to extended family. Annah quickly became an active member in the Norwich Grange, Norwich Women's Club, the International Women's Club, the Acworth Woman's Club, and the Union Village Methodist Church. Instantly recognizable for her shock of white hair and infectious laugh, she loved to cook, garden, complete puzzles, and enjoyed yard sales and antiquing with her sister, Mary-Lee Goodwin.
Annah was predeceased by her first husband, Alex, her second husband, Louis, as well as her brother, John Batchelder.
Annah is survived by her son, Geoff Craig and daughter-in-law, Sarah Flynn of Bradford, MA, her daughter Emily Kirk, her granddaughters, Allora Craig and Hannah Kirk, her sister Mary-Lee Goodwin, her nephews, Thad Goodwin and Mark Goodwin all of Norwich, VT, as well as her niece, Marybeth Goodwin of Paonia, CO.
A memorial service will be held at the Union Village Methodist Church in Norwich, VT on Friday, August 28 at noon. A life celebration will also be held in Marblehead, MA on a future date.
