Anna Leathers Thayer passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 in Frisco, Texas.
Anna was born in Dallas, Texas on February 9, 1925 and was the 6th of 7 daughters born to Amy and Linzy O. Leathers. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1942. She met her future husband, Edward, while he was in the Navy and attending classes at SMU. After the war they married and Anna continued working while Ed completed his engineering degree. Upon graduation Edward began his career at Convair, now Lockheed Martin, in Fort Worth and the family moved to Arlington.
Anna was a devoted wife and mother to their 2 daughters. When her younger daughter was in junior high school, she started working part time at JC Penney in the housewares department and remained for 15 years. Her volunteer work included superintendent of the nursery department at her church, Mission Arlington, and outreach leader of her Sunday School class.
Anna is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 50 years and her 5 older sisters. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Joan Phillips (Darrell) and Kristie Kibby (Craig). She is grandmother to Elizabeth Phillips, Keith Kibby and Kyle Kibby. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Mary Rauder, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Anna's family would like to thank the staff and residents of Parsons House in Frisco Texas for helping make her last 6 years active, joyful and filled with love.
A funeral service for Anna will be held Sunday, April 10, 2022 at 10:00am at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas.
