Anna Mae Dreyer Down passed away at home Thursday evening, April 27th , 2023. The weeks preceding her passing, she was surrounded by a multitude of friends and family.
Anna Mae Dreyer was born in Seattle, Washington June 25th, 1931 to Hans Otto Dreyer and Ottillia (Tillie) Frederika Pluck. She was the eldest of three children, proceeded in death by her brother George, and her sister, Alberta.
Anna graduated from West Seattle High in 1949, Enlisted in the US Army from 1949 to 1951. She completed her nursing training at West Point, then, was assigned to the 155 in Yokohama, Japan, where she met Robert (Bob) Down, a medic for the 1st Cavalry Division. They were married on October 19th, 1951.
Bob and Anna settled in the Seattle area. Together, they raised 4 children: Peter, Kathy, Robert, and David. They also had 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In 1995, they moved to Camano Island, where Bob passed in 2010.
Anna faithfully attended Camano Chapel. Missions work was one of Anna's greatest passions.
Anna Down will be remembered as an angel sent to live among mortals. She lived a life devoted to her family, her friends, her country, and her Lord. She embodied an unshakable faith, and lived as a beacon of hope to all around her. She loved fiercely, forgave much, and welcomed any and all into her home with open arms. The fullness of her life and love cannot be conveyed in a few paragraphs, but it lives on in the lives of her loved ones.
Services will be at Camano Chapel on Camano Island on May 20th at 2 pm.
