Ann M. Wessler, 88, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – Sullivan.
Ann Marie was born in Sullivan, MO on October 7, 1933 to Chester and Gladyne (Paul) Ellison. She attended school in Sullivan and graduated from Sullivan High, class of 1951. Ann married Robert Frederick Wessler on May 8, 1952, and to this union they had two sons, Jim and Tony. During her 25 years as an Air Force wife, Ann lived in various places, including Japan, Ecuador, and Morocco.
Ann was a talented painter and crafter and never had idle moments. She was a teacher at several schools at overseas postings, and at St. Anthony Parish School in Sullivan, where she taught third and fourth grade students. In addition, Ann taught piano after school for many years. She is fondly remembered by her students. Ann loved working outside caring for her garden, including her favorite flower, Shasta daisies. Although cats were her favorite animal, she also had a love and compassion for neighborhood animals, both wild and domestic, and could often be found feeding them. Ann will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her family and friends.
Ann is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bob Wessler; two sons, Jim Wessler and wife Kris of Yorktown, VA and Tony Wessler and wife Annie of Sullivan, MO; grandchildren: Jacob Wessler and wife Tricia of Suffolk, VA, Anna Meyer and husband Erik of Philadelphia, PA, Matt Wessler and wife Carley of Richmond, VA, Jennifer Stroud and husband Chris of Kansas City, MO, and Rebecca Rowold and husband John of Johannesburg, South Africa; one sister, Mary Lou Hubble and husband Jerry of Sullivan, MO; sister-in-law, Jeanne Ellison of Sullivan, MO; former daughter-in-law and mother of two granddaughters, Wanda Wessler of Kansas City, MO; Julie Patterson of Sullivan, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Gladyne Ellison; and one brother, Paul “Michael” Ellison.
Cremation arrangements have taken place. A Celebration of Ann’s life will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Clark Street Café & Bakery in Sullivan.
