Ann passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, surrounded by her loving children, after a long fight with Alzheimer's, at the age of 77.
Ann was born December 21, 1943 in Barberton, Ohio. She was a life-long resident and a 1961 graduate of Barberton High School. She worked for the City of Barberton in the Personnel Department, retiring in 2006 after 20 years of service. She was known by many through her involvement in planning and organizing the Lake Anna Arts and Crafts Festival.
She was selfless when it came to her children; unconditional love would be an understatement. She never passed an opportunity to support their activities by volunteering as a den mother for the Cub Scouts, team mom, or a room mother.
Ann was an avid gardener, enjoyed polka music and was an extraordinary baker. She cherished decorating her home for the Christmas season and spending the holidays with her family and friends. She loved the challenge of a good euchre game and the many friendships formed with her long-standing card group. She was an avid golfer, broke 40 several times and scored the elusive hole-in-one! Ann also loved hiking with her brother Sonny along the Towpath, as well as her weekly visits with her brother Dave. Ann was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Bill Ruddock late in life, blessing her with many wonderful memories.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Anne Marie (Skerl) and Frank Mazey. She is survived by her children John (Michelle) Hornacek, Scott (Donna) Hornacek, Brian (Cynthia) Hornacek and Aimee (Mark) Jung. Her grandchildren Lauren, Brendan, Meghan, Andrew, Madeline, Matthew, Abigail, Brooke, Noah and Conner and five great-grandchildren. Her brothers Frank (Toni) Mazey, Dave (Linda) Mazey, sister, Jan (Gary) Smith and many nieces and nephews.
Due to current circumstances masks are REQUIRED and social distancing will be observed.
Celebration of Ann's life will be Saturday, March 13th from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Campfield,-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Village of St. Edward Foundation, in memory of Ann Hornacek, 3125 Smith Road, Fairlawn, OH.
