Angela Sue Sabbagh, 101 passed away on May 31. She was born in Akron on Aug. 7, 1916 to Italian immigrant parents Thomas and Mary Cardoni. In her 101 years she witnessed many wars and the Great Depression. Angela's greatest love was her family. She also enjoyed working in her garden and cooking. She was able to master not only her native Italian recipes but was also adapted to Lebanese dishes of her husband's heritage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; son, Gary; granddaughter, Debra; sister and her husband, Lena and Frank Cagnoli; brothers and their wives, Joseph and Elgie Cardoni and John and Lois Cardoni. She will be deeply missed by her family: sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jane (who was like a daughter), Dennis and Flora; grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Blatt, Bev (Ian) Peterman, Vince Sabbagh, Dennis Paul Sabbagh, and Cynthia (Jason) Flatt; sisters, Rose (George) Sawyers, Caroline (Bob) Brumbaugh, and Elsie (Jerry) Gelvin; brother, Thomas (Carol) Cardoni; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge the caring staff at Traditions of Bath where Angela spent her last 11 years.
Calling hours will be TODAY, June 3 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91) where funeral services will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m., interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
