New Castle - Andrew Bell White, 80, of New Castle, and formerly of Hampstead, NH, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Wentworth Senior Living in Portsmouth. He was born on April 12, 1940, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to the late Frederick and Mary (Odiorne) White. Andrew was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, the University of New Hampshire and received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, from Northeastern University. Prior to his retirement, Andrew was an electrical engineer for Digital Equipment Corp. He was an active member of the Eliot Baptist Church; was a ham radio operator; former Boy Scout Leader; was an active volunteer and board member at the New Castle Historical Society; volunteered at Ft. Stark State Historical Site in New Castle; loved boating, hiking, hunting, fishing, was an avid woodworker and was certainly a "Jack of all Trades". Andrew and his wife, Carol enjoyed contra dancing as well as traveling to Germany, where there lived for 3 1/2 years, and various countries around the world. Andrew was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Durand. Besides his wife of 46 years, Carol A. (Hammond) White, of New Castle, survivors include daughter, Caroline Merrill of Hampton and her three children; daughter, Jennifer White (John Turner) of Arlington, MA and their two children; son, Matthew White (Elaine) of Dover and their two children; son, David White (Julie) of Bahrain and their three children; a brother, Stephen White of North Hampton; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the family's convenience in the spring of 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Carol A/Andrew B.
