88, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2022. She graduated from Kaimuki High School and was happily married to Miki for 65 years. She worked as a secretary at the University of Hawaii where she retired after working there for many years.
She and Miki helped start a ballroom dancing group and the Manoa Girls Athletic Club. She was also a cub scout den mother, team mother and involved with the girls' 4-H clubs. Amy was one of the biggest fans at her children's and grandchildren's games and performances.
After she retired, she became involved at Manoa Valley Church. Amy and Miki were loyal UH fans and bought season tickets to many sports. Amy enjoyed going walking in Manoa with her friends and going to lunches.
Amy will be remembered for her heartwarming smile, her kindness, thoughtfulness and love for her family and friends. She took many trips with Miki to Japan, China, Europe and of course, her favorite, Las Vegas. She was the happiest sitting in front of a poker slot machine.
Amy was known for her outgoing personality. She won the Miss Congeniality award at her senior daycare because she was so friendly to everyone.
Amy is survived by son Mike (Stella Maxwell), daughters Susan Soken (Patrick) and Charlene Takeno (Brian Furuto) and 4 grandchildren (Sara, Mandy, Todd and Jace) and brothers Dickey Hamasaki (Fran) and James Hamasaki (Linda). Service will be held at Manoa Valley Church on Saturday, April 23 at 10:00 visitation and 11:00 service, and it will be live streamed.
