Amanda Alvarez, 52, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023, surrounded by 3 of her daughters and one of her close friends.
Amanda was born on November 5, 1970, in San Angelo, Texas, to Robert and Oralia Villescaz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Santiago Jimmy Alvarez.
Amanda was a wonderful woman, wife, daughter, mother, Nana, sister, sister in law, and friend. She is survived by her parents; her 4 daughters: Jessica Alvarez (Andy), Olivia Hinojosa (Justin), Analicia Alvarez (Isaac), and Alex Romero (Gabriel); her 3 grandsons: Christian Hernandez, Isaiah Hernandez, and Noah Romero; her 3 granddaughters: Jocelyn Hernandez, Belen Hernandez, and Evalyn Romero; her sister Adela Estrada (Billy), her brother Robert Villescaz, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Amanda graduated from San Angelo Central High School. She later met the love of her life, Jimmy Alvarez. She and Jimmy got married in 1992 and raised 3 daughters.
Amanda did cosmetology work at Eckerds in the Sunset Mall in San Angelo, and later worked for a short time at TopCat in Midland, but desired to be a stay at home mom. She homeschooled her 3 daughters, and with the help of a neighbor, also taught Alex to read and write.
She loved Jesus and was involved in church, teaching Sunday School, and singing in the choir. She touched the hearts of many people, and made many friends along the way. She was loving, kind, caring, strong, courageous, and compassionate.
In 2013, she was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, and the battle began. She fought this 3 different times since, confident that one day she would be cancer free. Although she had to wait to see heaven to be healed and pain free, she never gave up. At the end, she finally found her needed rest, as she longed to see the love of her life again and wished to be reunited with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Pallbearers will be AJ Rios, Josh Rios, Ricky Rios, RJ Bailey, Tony DeLuna, and Fernando Garcia.
Viewing will be held on June 20, 2023 at 1:00pm-9:00pm at Heavenly Gate Funeral Home. The funeral service is set for June 21, 2023 at 10:00am at Elevate Church (200 Baldwin St,), and burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Garden Cemetery.
