Alyce Perez Counts, 75, of Mobile passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, in great peace and comfort at The Retreat at Saad Hospice. Alyce was born March 3, 1947, in Mobile and was the sixth of eleven children born to the late A.L. "Rappy" Perez and Alyce Hicks Perez. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Counts, her brother Billy.
Alyce grew up in Mobile and was a 1965 graduate of Convent of Mercy High School. She attended the University of South Alabama where she met her future husband, John A. Counts. Alyce loved good people and great music, and she never hesitated to give more than she received, which made her the best mother and MiMi anyone could ask for. She spent most of her life in Mobile, with the exception of a five-year period spent in Auburn, AL, and Newnan, GA to be closer to her sons and grandchildren. Two years ago, Alyce moved back to Mobile where she was loved and cared for by family, friends, and her longtime companion, Clifford Foster.
The Memorial Mass is 12:15 pm Saturday, April 2, 2022, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Following the Mass, there will be a Celebration of Life reception at the home of her nephew, Dr. William Perez. Rather than flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to either The Retreat at Saad Hospice at 1515-B South University Blvd, Mobile, AL 36609 or to St. Ignatius Building Fund, 3704 Spring Hill Avenue, Mobile, AL 36608.
Survivors include her two sons, Jac Counts (Leslie) Counts and Bradley Counts (Callie); her grandchildren Carter, Caroline, Merrill, Anna, and John, as well as her six brothers, three sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
