Alyce J. (Jabs) Boyd, 99, of Bristol, CT and formerly of Mayfield, KY, was called home by our Lord on March 21 to join her husband, siblings, parents, and other family members after a long and wonderful life. Alyce was born in Bristol, CT to Otto and Leodina Jabs, one of five siblings. She met her husband, Fred (Red) Boyd in Bristol and relocated to Mayfield, KY where she and Fred spent most of their wedded lives. There she worked at a local utility as an office administrator while Red tended the family hog farm. The family always looked forward to the times when Aunt Alyce and Uncle Red drove up from Kentucky to visit every few years. Upon his death, she moved back to Bristol and lived in adjoining condos with her sister Erma, where they enjoyed each other's company and where family enjoyed visiting. Alyce attended Zion Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed as a child. She was a member of Zion's Dorcas Society and enjoyed the friendship the group provided. Not one to get behind the wheel, she looked forward to being driven to church every Sunday by her cousin Esther Holmstrom. In her later years, she required additional help and spent the last few years of her life as a resident of Waters Edge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown, attending and participating in activities there until her death at the age of 99. Alyce was predeceased by her husband Fred, her parents, and siblings Reinhard Jabs, Rudolph Jabs, Martha Twardy and Erma Gale. She leaves her niece Lori Abbott of Ithaca, NY and her family, nephew David Twardy (Wendy) of South Glastonbury, CT and his family, niece in law Betty Gale and her family of Middletown, CT, along with several grand nieces, grand nephews, and cousins. Final arrangements are being handled by Dupont Funeral Home in Bristol, CT. There are no calling hours. Alyce's final resting place will be with her husband Fred in Paducah, KY. A funeral service honoring her life will be held on Saturday, April 17th at 10am at Zion Lutheran Church in Bristol, CT. The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at Waters Edge Health & Rehabilitation Center for their devoted caring of Alyce these last few years. Memorial donations can be made in her name to Zion Lutheran Church. Family and friends are invited to leave a condolence message by visiting www.dupontfuneralhome.com
