Alvin Eric McKenzie, 76, beloved husband of Caldonnie "Carol" Casselman McKenzie, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 22, 2022 at his residence.
Mr. McKenzie was born the son of Ornin Levi McKenzie and Vivian Covann Parsons McKenzie on April 2, 1946 in Andrews. He was a 1966 graduate of Andrews High School. He was a member of the American Legion Post 69 and was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran. He was a retired Insulation Superintendent for Classic Industrial Service. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. His greatest love was being a devoted husband, loving father, cherished PawPaw, and caring brother. He attended Washington Avenue Church of God in Greenville, SC and The Christian Fortress.
Eric and Carol were married on March 2, 1968 and celebrated 54 years together. Their home was blessed with: two children, Alvin McKenzie (Shannon) and Erica McKenzie; four grandchildren, Justin McKenzie, Shelli Noone (J.J), Luke Smith (Rileigh), and Faith Smith; and seven great grandchildren, Chandler McKenzie, Ayden McKenzie, Haiden Noone, Greyson Noone, Reece Shelley, Jackson Noone and Jay Noone. He also leaves behind: three brothers, Rabon McKenzie (Carolyn), Lewis McKenzie(Carolyn) and Wayne (Ella Mae "Sis") McKenzie; two sisters, Doris Ann Cooper and Christine Young; his extended family, Rev. Clinton Casselman (Sylvia), Dorothy Thornal (Larry), Murrel Casselman (Debra), and Bobby Poston; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by: his parents; a sister, Aloma Poston; and two brother-in-laws, David Young and Lorenza Cooper.
A Home Going Celebration with Military Honors will be 2PM, Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at The Christian Fortress. Officiating will be Pastor Geraldine Bednego. A Committal Service will be 5PM at the Ivey Cemetery directed by McKenzie Funeral Home.
The McKenzie family will receive family and friends immediately after the service in the church sanctuary.
