Alvin Richard (Al) Jones
Al Jones passed away Friday, October 7, 2022. He was born on November 21, 1932 in Clanton, AL to the late Leonard and Hattie Jones. Al was also preceded by his sister, Pauline Jones and brother, John Jones. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. Al retired from AT&T after 35 years of service as an engineering associate. He was a member of Rockdale Baptist Church where he joined in 1974. Al recorded the worship services most of that time and worked in the Pre-school department doing the attendance Sunday school records. He enjoyed gardening, an avid Alabama football fan and golfer. Back in his younger days he use to own and operate the Montgomery Golf Center/Course for several years. Al is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Jones of Conyers; sons and daughter-in-law, Rick Jones of Covington and Ken (Joni) Jones of Seattle Washington; daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne (Lawson) Hooper of Covington and Nancy (Sammy) Peters of Rutledge; four grandchildren, Erin (Shannon) Crumpton, Chris (Jane) Malcom, Suzanne (Will) Cawthorn, and Will (Anna) Hooper; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service for Al will be held Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Rockdale Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Moss officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 PM.
