Aloneous S "Al" Hinton, Jr.,LCDR, USN, Ret., went to a heavenly family reunion on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. He was born at home December 2, 1928 in Zebulon, North Carolina to the late Aloneous Satterlee Hinton, Sr., and Gladys Davis Hinton. Al lived a full life, believing in hard work, his family, and his church. Al served his country in the United States Navy, and retired in 1970 after 22 years of service as a Lieutenant Commander. He worked at Kennedy Space Center for Boeing Services Corporation for twelve years. Al also worked as the Town Engineer for the Town of Wake Forest for two years before a 12 year career with Wake Electric Cooperative prior to forming a safety consulting business which was active until 2014.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Jean Hinton, a son; David Hinton, and his second wife Dorothy "Dot" Hall Hinton. Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons; Allen Hinton and wife Shera of Cocoa, Florida, and Gerald "Jay" Hinton and his wife Jenna of Lake Royale, North Carolina, and also several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Al's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 9, 2022 at St. John's Episcopal Church Columbarium in Wake Forest with Rev. Sarah Phelps officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM Friday evening at Bright Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wake Forest. Inurnment will follow in St. John's Episcopal Church Columbarium following the service.
