Alma Ruth Ogle Bailey, 98, of Lenoir City, TN, passed away May 26, 2022. Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rellie Lee and Gertrude Wilkins Ogle; sister, Ruby Lee Ogle Graves; and her husband of 56 years, Paul Bailey. Ruth is survived by children: Paul Lee (Cheryl), Roy (Doris), Kay (Paul Katko) and Don (Tammy); grandchildren: Allen Bailey, Tracy Craig, Jonathan Bailey, Jeremy Neumann, and Paul Michael Katko; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was born in the Boyd's Creek community of Sevier County, TN, on July 14, 1923, and there attended elementary and high school where she was a member of the basketball team. Many of the founding families of Sevier County are included among her ancestors. She married Paul Bailey in 1942 and their first home was a farm in Blount County until 1950 when they moved to the Greenback community in Loudon County. After Paul retired, they resided in Wauchula, FL, from 1984 until they returned to Loudon County in 1993. Ruth and Paul enjoyed traveling and during his tenure on the Board of Directors of Tennessee Farmer's Cooperative they were able to visit many of the fifty states. Tours of Canada, Europe and Hawaii concluded their travels. Ruth enjoyed a full and varied life. Early in her years in Loudon County, She entered a competition to design a modern house suitable for a farm family. Her efforts were rewarded with a trip to a convention in Washington, DC, where she met First Lady Mamie Eisenhower. These plans were used to construct a new home for the family. Some years later she designed a second house which they also built. In addition to her role as farmer's wife and mother, she tried her hand as textile worker, Avon lady, real estate agent, church worker, caretaker, volunteer and listener. She loved to outside and work in her flower and vegetable gardens and was always excited to pick her first tomato of the season. She loved God, her church and her family. Most of all she was a very good person. The family would like to express its appreciation to the staff at Morning Pointe, Lenoir City for the care they provided her. Also, sincere thanks to special friend Kristi Quillen of Lenoir City for her help these past few years. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, May 30th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City.
