Allie Jackson Kellam went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2021. The son of the late Allie James Kellam and Mamie L. Richardson, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin D. and Ray Twilley Kellam, niece Rosemarie (Tom) Martyn and nephew Mark Kellam.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Julie, and his children, Deborah Wilcox (James) McCormick and Scott Anderson (Dana) Wilcox. He was a beloved Papa to six grandchildren: Mackenzee (Patrick) McWilliams, Allie (Brian) Huntington, Savannah (Daniel) Tate, and Elizabeth, Anderson, & Lillian Wilcox, and four great-grandchildren: Molly & Jude McWilliams, and Kellam & Adelaide Huntington. He is also survived by his niece, Peggy Byrd, and nephew David Kellam.
AJ was born May 16, 1948 in Quinby, VA, and graduated 1966 from Central High (Painter, VA). He attended Eastern Shore Community College (Melfa, VA), graduating in 1977 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree. He served honorably in the U.S. Army 1968-1970, completing light infantry & paratrooper training, and specializing in packing & maintenance of personnel & cargo parachutes. During that time, he made 13 jumps.
AJ worked in telemetry at The Harry Diamond Laboratories 1980-1986, then began work at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, receiving many achievement awards for outstanding performance, and finally retiring in 2010 from his position as Facility Operations & Plant Manager.
He faithfully served as Deacon (1990-1998) and Elder (1999-2004) at Christ Community Presbyterian Church (now Providence Presbyterian Church). He became a member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Cambridge, MD, in 2004, serving as Elder (2004-2019). He had a great love for the gospel of grace, sharing the good news through Evangelism Explosion for a number of years. He enjoyed sailing and snow skiing, always appreciating the beauties of nature.
Family and friends mean more as the years roll by, and the reality of spending eternity together in heaven through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross helps with the goodbyes.
