Allan Michael Costley, son of the late Eldridge and Jane Costley was born April 5, 1952 in Carroll County, Maryland and departed this life suddenly on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his sister Anna Costley and brother Larry Costley. He was educated in the Carroll County School System and graduated from South Carroll High School in 1970. Mike was in the chorus in high school and he also played the tuba. Mike, as he was affectionately known, was united in marriage to Roxanne Rheubottom on June 3, 1989 and had just celebrated 33 years of marriage. Mike was the co-founder of the motorcycle group The Crusaders. He was a lifetime member of the White Rock Independent Methodist Episcopal Church. Mike was a very active member of the White Rock church BBQ's. On BBQ Saturdays, Mike could be found in the kitchen either on the serving line or washing the dishes (wherever he was stationed, he had a lot to say). Mike worked for Springfield Hospital and he also was a volunteer firefighter for Sykesville Firehouse. He retired from Southern States Co-op after 25 years of service. Not ready to enter the world of retirement, he worked for Mobile Med, Cowan Systems, and Farm and Home Sykesville. Mike also owned M&R Grass Cutting where he was helped by his brothers Larry and Timmy. Mike fully retired in 2018. God gifted Mike with a golden voice, which he used to sing the Gospel. He sang on the all-male chorus at White Rock and the choir at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Mike joined The Versatiles, an all - male singing group widely known throughout Carroll and Frederick counties. He loved singing and found a home with The Versatiles. They recorded an album in 1995 called Spreading the Gospel, that every family needed their own copy of. Everyone looked forward to Mike singing "Roll Back the Curtain". Mike was a stickler for things to be done correctly, his belief was if you were going to do it please do it right. Mike was a jokester and had an infectious laugh that would bring a smile to anyone in his presence. Mike loved the Orioles and would be front and center in his recliner before first pitch. He also enjoyed watching the NFL games. Mike loved the Christmases that were spent at his home, he loved picking with nieces Karen and Tara. He also loved the Costley Family Reunion with all the family together at his place. Mike didn't need to be seen at every event, but if he could help in any way, he was there for you.
