Alixe Langford Wilson, aged 99, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. She was born on November 5, 1922, to Alice Childress Smith and Ivan Langford in Houston, Texas. She spent most of her younger years growing up in Bryan, Texas and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in 1942 from Iowa State College where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She lived in Monterey, California for many years prior to returning to her home state of Texas. Alixe was an accomplished pianist, loved to play bridge and enjoyed researching her family's history. She was also a past-president of the Girl Scouts of Monterey Bay.
Alixe was preceded in death by her husband, James Woodrow Wilson, and a brother Ivan Langford, Jr. Surviving are three children, Karen Kahrl (Jim) of San Antonio, James L. Wilson (Nancy) of Upland, CA, and Pamela Wilson also of San Antonio; three grandchildren, Christina Brody (Aaron) of Oakland, CA, Fritz Kahrl of Berkeley, CA, and Catherine Wilson-Parker (Bryce) of Claremont, CA; as well as four great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on November 25. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the San Antonio Food Bank.
