Alicia was born to the union of Carlos Garcia and Cecilia Salazar, on May 15, 1925, in San Ignacio, Texas. She had 1 brother and 4 sisters, she lost her mother at an early age and had to help her father raise her siblings, in 1945 she wed Ascencion Martinez, WWII veteran and had 3 children, Cecilia in 1945, Joe Amador in 1946-2008 and Ascension Martinez Jr.(Tunney) 1956-1977.
Alicia divorced in 1956, she met Paul Marrufo in 1957, they were married over 43 year until his death in 2000, in 1960 they had a son Johnny Marrufo.
Alicia began working in 1951 as a migrant worker for Pancho Jiminez, and worked as a maid at Oxnard Colonial House, until she began working at The Chileria, later to become Heublein Corp. and Oxnard Frozen Foods, where she would later retire from. In her retirement she would volunteer for In La Ketch, and would do the nachos chip stand.
Alicia, loved her family, she had 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and counting. Each child had great value to her, she would love to spend time with them, and reminisce about the past. Alicia would love to travel with her husband Paul, having visited Canada, Texas, Washington, and several of the caverns located throughout the United States, Carlsbad, Lake Shasta, she learned to swim in 1978 at the age of 58, so she could swim with her grandchildren.
Alicia will be greatly missed by her entire family, she taught us all how to be strong, compassionate, be loving, and most of all treat others with respect, as you would want to be treated, Thank you mom, grandma, we love you.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 6:30pm on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 with a Rosary to begin at 7:00pm at the Garcia Mortuary Chapel, 629 South A Street in Oxnard. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Santa Clara Church, 323 South E Street in Oxnard. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 North H Street in Oxnard.
