Alice Anna Smith, age 101, passed away peacefully at her home on June 19, 2021. A lifelong Manchester NH resident, she was born August 13, 1919, one of eight siblings born to the late Arthur Boisclair and Anna Gaudreau Boisclair. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harold M. Smith. Alice is survived by her four children, Barbara DiVenuti and the late Arthur Timothy DiVenuti of Manchester, Ronald Smith and his wife Dianne Smith of Bristol, Conn, Dianne Smith and her husband Stephen Smith of Nashua, and Michael Smith and his wife Karen Smith of Manchester, as well as nine grandchildren & their spouses; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister Theresa "Terry" Leach of Manchester; a truehearted best friend Gisele Sevigny Fontaine of Manchester, as well several nieces and nephews. As a young woman, Alice worked at many jobs ranging from banquet waitressing at the Chateau, war-time ball bearing manufacturing during World War II, casket building, and even stepping in as a sample-sized shoe model. Marrying in 1942, less than 24 hours before her husband Harold left to serve in the U.S. Navy, together they built a life surrounded by friends and family. Lovingly known simply as Nana to all those who knew her, she will be remembered for her witty sense of humor, her flirtatious attitude, and her love of having a glass of wine while "visiting" with her loved ones. A true matriarch, her strength and love created generations of family that extends far beyond those born into the Boisclair-Smith clan. Alice would coin the family motto, "we're not rich, but we've got a lot of love" to welcome any who needed extra family into the fold. Her unconditional love will forever be felt by all who knew her.
