Alice Mae Ketron Kneupper nee Joseph of Fredericksburg passed away on Sunday November 20th at the age of 97 years.
Alice was born on Creek St at home to Anna Eckert Joseph and Fritz Joseph on July 14, 1925. She was the 7th of eight children. She graduated from Fredericksburg High School in May of 1942, six months before WW2 broke out.
She married Marvin Ketron in 1945 and moved to his family's ranch in the Cherry Mountain Community where she resided for the next 77 years. After Marvin's passing in 1966, she remained a widow until 1975 when she married Erwin Kneupper.
She was an active and faithful volunteer to many organizations over her lifetime : Edison Street Methodist Church, Gillespie County Fair, the Cherry Mountain Community schoolhouse, Disabled American Veterans, and the American Legion. She volunteered monthly at the VA Hospital in Kerrville serving refreshments to veterans. She was an avid bowler and traveled with many of her local bowling friends. She rarely missed a Billie game. Living on a ranch, she developed a passion for hunting and held on to that until dementia consumed her.
She is survived by 5 children: Lee and Rebecca Kneupper of Bandera, Calvin and Ruthie Kneupper of Marion, Lyndia and Jesse Sachtleben of Pipe Creek, Margaret Kneupper of Fredericksburg and Ralph Kneupper of Fredericksburg. 10 grandchildren including Beth Kneupper Stone of Abilene whom she helped raise and 13 great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by her two husbands, one son and daughter in law, Sammy and Dawn Ketron, step daughter, Frances Richter and her husband, James. 7 siblings: Edna Joseph Johnson, Ruben Joseph, Dora Joseph, Henry Joseph, Helen Joseph Bernhard, Elenor Joseph Leyendecker Klein, and Vernell Joseph Roeder.
Memorials may be made to the Cherry Mountain Community Schoolhouse, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or charity of choice.
Funeral Services for Alice Kneupper will be held on Tuesday November 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home with Rev. George Lumpkin officiating.
Graveside Services and Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 22nd from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Schaetter Funeral Home.
