Alice L. “Sally” Crotty passed into Heaven, June 12, 2022. Alice was born October 24, 1923, in Coudersport, PA daughter of the late Leona and Charles Hosley.
After graduating from Coudersport High School, at age 18, Alice moved to Buffalo, NY to work for Bell Aircraft in the defense plant and became a “Rosie the Riveter” working on Aero Cobra Aircraft. From there she attended Nursing School in Philadelphia where she met her husband William R. Crotty and after completing nursing school, she worked at Philadelphia General Hospital. The couple also lived in New Jersey and Chicago until they eventually settled in Erie, Bill’s hometown. After raising a family, she went back to work at St. Vincent Hospital.
Alice always had a smile on her face, positive attitude and a strong determination. She was a member of St. George Church where she assisted as the school nurse, played the organ for Mass and sang in the choir. She had many hobbies including bowling, playing cards, golfing and working in the yard. She loved spending time with her family and her dogs.
She was preceded in death by her husband William R Crotty along with siblings Clark, Charles, Ralph, Harvey, Carol and Patricia. She was also preceded in death by, daughter-in-law Barbara Crotty and grandson Gary King II.
She will be deeply missed by her son William (Deborah) Crotty and daughter Patricia (Gary) King; grandchildren Ryan Crotty, Nicole (Scott) Duckworth, Amy (Joe) Reszkowski, Ann Pontillo, Joseph (Kelly) and Michael King; and great-grandchildren Jacob and Reagan Duckworth and Hannah Reszkowski, Collin Barton, Liam and Cade King. She will also be missed by her sister Janet (Jack) Prehoda, brother Raymond (Ila) Hosley, sisters-in-law Lee Ann Hosley, Janet Hosley, Alice Crotty and Sally Crotty along with many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm and are invited to a brief prayer there on Friday at 9:30 am followed by a funeral mass at 10 am at St. George Church. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
