Algernon Sidney Welch Jr.
1919—1971
A Life Too Short
Algernon Sidney Welch, Jr., known to family and friends as Sid, was a 22-year veteran of the United States Air Force who served in World War II and retired as a Major from the USAF Strategic Air Command. He had married the love of his life, Loleta "Lee" Krepps in 1943, and later had two children, a daughter and a son. Eight years after retirement, while working as a salesman, he and Lee purchased their dream home, complete with a pool, in the hills overlooking the San Fernando Valley. Less than one month later, in the prime of his life, he was killed in a tragic accident.
