Mercedes/Harlingen - Alfredo Aguero Salazar 74, of Mercedes, Texas, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. He was born in Bliss Field, Michigan on September 23, 1946.
Alfredo served in the United States Air Force from 1966-1969. He was an automotive technician for over 40 years. He loved spending time with his family, and his hobbies included barbecuing, hunting, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minerva Salazar, sister Dora Barroso, and parents, Alejos and Petra Salazar.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, a son, Alfredo (Julia) Salazar Jr.; daughters, Sandra (Jose) Balderas and Sylvia (Armando) Salazar-Leija; a brother, Alex (Rita) Salazar (Rita); a sister, Lupita (Paulo) Zambrano, 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Thursday morning, March 18th from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Garcia & Trevino Funeral Home in Mercedes, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mercedes. He will be laid to rest later that day at 1 p.m. at Rio Grande Veteran's Cemetery (2520 S. Inspiration Rd.) in Mission, Texas.
As much as the family would love to receive your hugs, it is important to provide safety for all. All individuals will be required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. There will be Covid funeral restrictions in place.
