Al Jorgensen, born in 1928, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2021, at St. Anthony's Hospital. Al grew up in Chicago. He married his wife, Dolly Jorgensen, on September 1, 1950. Shortly after eloping with Dolly, Al joined the United States Army and proudly fought for the United States in the Korean conflict as a member of Signal Corps.
He spent the next 32 years in Chicago. A gifted salesman, he spent most of his career selling for Murphy & Miller, a Chicago heating, ventilation and air conditioning company, where he made many life-long friends. Al retired from Murphy & Miller in 1985, when he moved to Florida, where he thrived for another 35 years. As a teenager, Al developed an interest in electronics that became a lifelong passion. It led him into the Signal Corps during the Korean War and continued growing for the rest of his life. Al came out of retirement a time or two to provide computer and technical support for Cheryl Lee Studio of Dance. Al was an active member in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church for many years, where he also taught fellow members how to use their computers. Al's first and most important priority, however, always was his family. Al's son, Craig, pre-deceased, him. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret "Dolly" Jorgensen, his daughter Cheryl Lee, his son-in-law, Steven Dupre, his two granddaughters, Emilee Larsen and Ashlee Dupre, and the family of his wife's third cousin, Pam and Jim Haase, their children Jim, Ken, and Lindsey and their children. All will miss him dearly. A virtual celebration of life will be held Sunday, February 21, 7pm. If you wish to be included, please register your email address at [email protected].
