With great sadness we announce the passing of Alfred Shorrock Dean on April 9, 2021 in Memphis, TN.
He began his life in Canada on September 27, 1945, one of seven children, born to Dorothy and William. The family immigrated to America and Al became a citizen of the United States and proudly served in the Vietnam Conflict for eleven years. He started his family in Michigan and became the proud father of two children prior to moving to Kentucky to pursue his career. There he met Leigh with which he spent the next 39 years and expanded his family to include hers, eventually retiring in Lakeland, TN. Only his love of family and friends could rival his love of travel and this would lead to many trips which often included visits to loved ones. He never met a stranger and would light up any room he entered with his wit and charm. He was first to offer support to all whether emotional, advice or simply a helping hand in accomplishing a task. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched including family, friends, coworkers, and his TN neighbors who marveled at his non-stop attitude and nicknamed him the "Energizer Bunny".
Survived by: Thelma "Leigh" Pontrich; Children Scott Dean, Robin Dean Gowin, Carol Pontrich Toggweiler; Siblings George Dean, Mark Dean and Diane Ashendorf; Sisters-In-Law Val Dean and June Dean; Grandchildren Connor, Mary, Logan, Brenton, Amanda, Troy & Teddy.
Celebration of Life on May 16, 2021 from 2pm-4pm, at City Place Pavilion Two, 112 1st Avenue, Lagrange, KY 40031.
