Alesia (Lisa) Brown Bishop, 61, of Madison, passed away
peacefully at her home surrounded by family on July 11, 2022.
She was born June 14, 1961 to Nolan and Patricia Holbert Brown
in Madison. Alesia was a graduate of Morgan County High School
and married to Larry Bishop. She was a loving wife and mother
and adored her grandchildren who called her Nanny. She enjoyed
working in her flowers, spending time at the pool, and operating
the family businesses, B&W Waste and Madison Waste and
Hauling.
Alesia loved her family and was often seen putting them first
before even her own wants and needs. She lived a sacrificial life
and believed her family was her greatest reward. The summer was
her favorite season because she knew it often meant the entire
family packing up and heading toward the beach where they
feasted on as much seafood as she could stomach (which was a
lot). She did sneak away occasionally with her husband, Larry, to
Helen, Georgia, another of her "happy places."
Alesia would give the "shirt off her back" if she knew someone else
was in need, family or friend. She loved her many cousins, having
been born into a large extended family on both the Brown and
Holbert sides. She enjoyed family reunions and catching up with
relatives. She usually was found entertaining a crowd with her
foolishness and laughter. A relative recently stated, "I loved Lisa.
She was a hoot."
Alesia Bishop is survived by her husband, Larry, and children,
Leslie Watkins(Matt), Traci Johns(Stewart), Lydia Givens(Zach)
and Adam Bishop (Stephanie). Grandchildren are Christine
Watkins, Mason Jackson, Brody Watkins, Mary Bishop Johns,
Kali Bishop, Nora Johns, Nathan Givens, Lauren Johns, William
Givens and Nolan Bishop. She also leaves a brother that she loved
dearly, Ken Brown (Amy) and two nephews. Alesia was precededin death by her father, Nolan, and a brother, Tracy. A multitude
of other family members survives.
As Alesia shared in a recent text to a cousin, she loved the Lord
and stated even though she had walked away from Him at times,
He had never left her side. She said He had proven himself even
through her illness, so she continued to encourage others.
A joint memorial service will be held with her mother who passed
away on July 14, 2022. The service will be July 30, at 10:00 a.m.,
at First United Methodist Church of Madison in the Wesley
Building.
Donations may be made to Cornerstone Christian Center, St. Jude
Hospital, or the FUMC Preschool in memory/honor of Alesia
Brown Bishop and her mother, Patricia Holbert Brown.
