On the afternoon of May 26, 2022, Alejandro "Alex" Flores passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside, after a brief illness.
Born in Oxnard on September 14, 1981, Alex attended local elementary schools, including McKinna, Ramona and Marina West Elementary. He graduated from Hueneme High School in 2000 and afterwards, he held several jobs throughout the years with the support from the ARC of Ventura County. His smiling face and personable demeanor were a fixture for many years collectively at Vons on Victoria Ave., the Oxnard Weather Station, the Vet Center in Ventura and most recently, in the kitchen at CalFire. He was loved by all his co-workers for his warm and personable way.
Alex always gave of himself selflessly and would go out of his way to help anyone. Always the gentleman, his courteous and uber-polite nature made his personality shine bright. He relished serving as an Usher at the 12 pm at Santa Clara Church. He also enjoyed spending time with his family whether enjoying a meal together at home or while out and about. Alex also loved playing with his nieces, watching sci-fi movies like Star Wars and Star Trek, playing on his PlayStation and he would also have fun with his siblings remembering and quoting lines from the Ocean's casino heist movies. He particularly relished trips to Aguascalientes Mexico to be with family and enjoy "arrachera" tacos at his favorite taqueria. Alex is survived by his father, Felipe, mother, Juanita, older brother, Felipe Jr., sister, Claudia, brother-in-law, Ricardo, nieces Isabella and Cecilia and many aunts, uncles, cousins and compadres here in the United States and Mexico. Alex was a kind, gentle soul and he will be deeply missed by all his friends and family.
The Flores family would like to acknowledge and express a debt of gratitude to the City of Oxnard FD and paramedics, the ER staff, team of nurses, doctors, specialists and support staff that took care of him while at St. John's Regional Medical Center of Oxnard, as well as his regular medical team that looked after his well-being away from the hospital. Special thanks are also in order to staff and case managers at The ARC of Ventura County, California Self-Directed Services and the Tri-Counties Regional Center for supporting him unconditionally as a contributing member of the community.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Santa Clara Church, 323 South E Street, Oxnard, California.
