William "Pluck" Hall, born Oct. 11, 1935, was the second of James & Adelaide Hall's 8 children. He departed this life on Thurs., Aug. 18, 2022.
Bill graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953, then joined the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Korean War. He attended Morgan State College on scholarship (1958-1962). Bill worked at Fort Detrick before joining Eastalco Aluminum Co. in 1969. He retired as Carbon Plant Foreman in 1993.
Pluck sang with the Souls on Fire, Tree of Life, and Whosoever Will choirs. He also served on various boards before being elected Alderman for the City of Frederick (1998-2006). He was the first Black Democrat elected to that office and was Mayor Pro Tem in his second term. Bill was a member of Asbury U.M.C., Mountain City Lodge #382, American Legion Post 11, NAACP, and the Masons.
Bill is survived by his: wife, Alice Hall; children, Keith Worthington (Beatriz), Dr. Denise Rollins (Gary), & Tia Hall-Brown (Antwione); grandchildren, Ralph III, William, & Malcolm Brown, Nahif Abdul, Geneva & Daniel Burgess, & Kasheba Rollins-Fiscus (Kenny); 4 great grandkids; mother-in-law, Addie Clark; and siblings, Joy Onley (Bobby), James Hall, Jr. (Jan), Karen Hall, & Ann Shivers (Edmond). Mr. Hall's wake is on Fri., Aug. 26, 2022, from 3-7 p.m. at Rollins Life Celebration Center, 330 Catoctin Ave., Frederick, MD. The funeral is on Sat., Aug. 27th at 10 a.m. at the Weinberg Center, 20 W. Patrick St., Frederick.
