Albert L. West

Albert L West, 79 passed away on November 11, 2020. A private funeral service will be held on November 17th at Cremation and Funeral Gallery. Fellowship will follow at 12:00 at the Red Door where family and friends are invited.

Albert was born on August 30, 1941, in Hardin, Montana. He was the son of Frank "Benny" and Gladys West. Benny passed away when Al was school age and his Uncle Francis Swaby became a father figure to him. After Gladys' children were grown she remarried to Dick Frost of Springdale, MT who Albert had much respect and love for.

As a child Al grew up in Livingston, Montana and spent many summers at the Swaby Homestead farm in Dunmore, MT. The memory of his childhood that he shared the most was fishing in Livingston with his father and brother, Wally West. After graduating from Highschool in Livingston, Al briefly went to college in Bozeman but shortly joined the Navy in 1962. While serving in the Navy he spent 3 years overseas on the USS Kearsage.

After his Navy tour he moved to Billings, Montana with his school friend Ray House. In Billings he met Naomi Gaffney and got married on December 16, 1967. They had three children, Scott, Susan, Sherri and many neighborhood children such as the Eschler and House kids.

For 30 plus years, Al worked as a truck driver for Keebler Cookie Company. He was proud of his career and loved having his route all over Montana and talking with the grocery clerks. Throughout the years he enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, playing card and just being social. He loved the sunshine and you could always see him in the yard pulling weeds or sitting in a lawn chair with a cold beer.

After retirement his wife, Naomi of 38 years together passed away in 2006. He continued to be a very devoted Father and Grandfather to his family. The last 14 years of his life he dated Arlene Warren and enjoyed many adventures together until this last year.

Al will be reunited in death with his parents, Frank West, Gladys and Dick Frost. Many Aunts and Uncles, his wife Naomi, long life friends, Phyllis House, Albert and Linda Eschler including many other friends throughout the years

He is survived by his children and spouses, Scott and Rebecca West, Susan and Dave Anderson, and Sherri and Josh Greni; his Girlfriend Arlene Warren and her family; Brother Wally and Kyleen West; Grandchildren, Erica, Felicia, Andrew, Cory, Myra and Alyia and many Great Grandchildren.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private family service will be held.
