Albert P. Perez, age 85, went to be with his Lord peacefully with family by his side on, January 15, 2019. He was born on April 29, 1933 to Pedro and Margarita Pena Perez in Laredo, Texas. Albert served in both the United States Army and Navy. Upon leaving the service, he became an insurance agent for Prudential Life. Albert was among one the first Hispanic police officers to join the Corpus Christi Police Department where he retired after 31 years. At the same time, he was a representative of American Smelting, and he also continued the legacy of his Father's family business, Perez Mattress. Albert also created and owned Perez Properties, which he continued to work until the day he died. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jose Ramirez, Jose Perez, Arturo Perez; and sister, Carmen Montoya. Albert leaves behind five children, Margarett Perez, Albert M. Perez (Anna), Margott Perez Colmenero, Marjorie Carla Perez Garcia (Jose), Marc A. Perez (Debbie); and siblings; Elizabeth Garza, Pete Perez (Elisa), Hilda Banda, sister-in-law Mary Helen Perez, grandchildren, Celeste Perez, Theresa de Jesus "T.J." Perez, Albert Perez Jr., Jordan Garcia, Roger Garcia, Vanessa Garcia, Isaac Colmenero, Jacob Colmenero, Joseph Colmenero, Brigett Theresa Colmenero, Ruth Colmenero, Hector R. Garcia, James Dolan and Kristin de la Paz; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins and other family members. Albert will best be remembered for his work ethic, love of snow cones, his coin collection, his love for Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, Dr. Phil & Judge Judy, his "Pinche Cowboys", as well as his love of Church Unlimited which he attended for 15 years.
The family would like to thank medical staff for the compassionate care given to our father at the time of his passing. Albert will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Visitation to be held at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Service will be at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors Chapel on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
