Albert W. Fischer Jr., 85, of Merrimack, NH died peacefully at home on September 25, 2021, spending his last days surrounded by family and friends. Albert lived most of his life in Merrimack and was the son Albert W. Fischer Sr. and Emily (Dors) Fischer. In 1954, he graduated from Central High School in Manchester. He attended Keene State College where he was a member of the Theta Chi Delta fraternity and graduated in 1958 with a degree in Education. Albert served in the New Hampshire National Guard in 1960, during the Berlin Crisis. In addition to his family, Albert loved kids, any and all kinds of projects and camping and model planes. He spent 36 years working for the Nashua School District as a Teacher, Supervisor, Coordinator and Director of Vocational Education before retiring in 1994. He was co-owner, and the most patient of instructors, at the Nashua Driving School. In his spare time, he served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Nashua Girls Club from 1981-1984, and he was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Pointer Fish & Game Club, the Elks and the Southern New Hampshire Flying Eagles. Alongside his wife, he spent several years serving as a Granite State Ambassador and a 'Big Brother' for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. Albert had a gentle, good-natured spirit and often recounted his favorite memories which included stories of hunting with his sons, cousins and friends. He enjoyed working on projects like building a boat and kit car with his youngest son, camping all over the country, most especially going to Pawtuckaway and Lake Francis with his wife and a special group of friends. He is survived by his wife Aletheia Fischer, sons Albert W. Fischer III, Daniel and his wife Susan Fischer, Mark Fischer, stepdaughter Laura Lukan and her husband Patrick; three grandchildren, Autumn Fischer, Evelyn Fischer and Chase Fischer; brother and sisters-in-law Dr. and Mrs. James Drake and Debra Learmonth as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Alyssa Fischer. Also, his mother and father-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Simon Markos and a brother-in-law, Dr. Peter Markos. In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert's memory can be made to Home Health & Hospice at 7 Executive Drive, Merrimack NH 03054. They provided kind and caring support in Albert's final days. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours from 9 AM - 10 AM at St John Neaumann Church in Merrimack with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following calling hours at 10 AM.
