Alan Arthur Scott, 91, of Pittsfield, passed away May 14, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.
Born in Northampton, MA on September 20, 1930, he was the son of the late Raymond C. and Marion L. (VanDeBogart) Scott. After losing his parents at an early age, he was raised by relatives Ralph and Helen Galletly.
A 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School, he married the former Barbara R. Adams on July 14, 1952. The couple would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this July.
He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War, and was a lifetime member of the VFW and a flag bearer for the Honor and Color Guard.
Mr. Scott worked for General Electric for 38 years as a layout person. After his retirement, he worked for Berkshire Foreign Auto Parts for 20 years as a delivery driver.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara R. Scott of Pittsfield. Two sons, Jeffrey A. Scott of Pittsfield and Steven R. Scott (Monica Mucci) of Lenox. Step-brothers, Wayne Galletly (Jeri) of Dalton and Ronald Galletly of Edmonds, Washington.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Pittsfield Cemetery in the East Fountain Lawn Section. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Western MA in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
