Alan J. Schultz, 82, passed away peacefully in his Watertown home on Monday, February 5, 2024.
Alan along with his brother David grew up in the loving home of Anne and Clarence Schultz near Beaver Dam, WI which they helped build with their father. In his formative years he enjoyed building model planes, being a boy scout and playing football on his grade school team. His mother Anne worked as a secretary to Governor Pat Lucey.
Alan met Janice Stueber, a talented artist, during the time he was pursuing his mechanical engineering degree. He spent a year in Mexico during his studies after which he settled with his wife Janice in the country near Watertown close to Janice's parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles most of whom were dairy farmers.
The Schultz family eventually included Jeff, Juliee, Andy, Amy and Alex. A sixth son, Adam, passed away as an infant. He loved to take his kids fishing, hunting, biking and bowling. Alan easily juggled many responsibilities while keeping a positive and joyful demeanor. He was employed by the University of Wisconsin system as a mechanical engineer occasionally taking his kids to work with him. He eventually became responsible for all of the university heating and cooling systems statewide.
Alan had a passion for restoring classic motorcars and enjoyed going to car shows with Janice. He was dedicated to St John's Lutheran Church serving as an usher and elder for many years. After the death of Janice, he enjoyed the remainder of his life with his second wife Sharon. Alan is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Anne, his son Adam, and wife Janice.
