How do you know Alan? Please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
Entered into eternal life on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at the age of 77 surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was the beloved husband of Sharon (nee Christensen) for 50 years. He was the proud and loving father of Candice, Chris (Rachel) and Jeff (Hannah). He was the adored grandfather of Cate, Caroline, Keira, Max, Eva, Thomas and Lena. He is further survived by his brother Dave (Gayle) and sisters Pat and Jane (Dave Skumatz) and other dear relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Mary (nee Krause) Klug and sister-in-law Robin.
Al was born in Iola, Wisconsin on January 13, 1944, spent his formative years in rural Ringle, Wisconsin, graduated from D. C. Everest High School and went on to Michigan Technological University, where he earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. His collegiate career was interrupted by a tour of duty in Viet Nam in the U.S. Army as a Gas Turbine and Generator Repairman at the 63rd Maintenance Battalion, stationed in Nha Trang. He was a long-time resident of Oshkosh, Mequon, and Brookfield, Wisconsin.
His professional career covered 43 years of ever-increasing engineering and management responsibilities with the Snowmobile Division of Outboard Marine Corporation, the Outdoor Power Equipment Division of J I Case Corporation, and Broan-NuTone LLC.
Al was a good-humored, good-natured man who was immediately liked by everyone he met. He faced life's challenges with strong determination and a good spirit. An engineer both professionally and at heart, Al was an exceptional handyman. His family often said that if Al couldn't fix it then it couldn't be fixed. His family was at the center of his life, and he will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
The family thanks the wonderful staff at the Froedtert & MCW Cancer Center for giving us an extra year with him.
